Many adults in the remote areas of Nepal did not attend school in their childhood. As children and teenagers they had to support their parents in the household or in the field securing the daily food. Some acquired rudimentary English skills by contacting tourists.
In October 2014 we held a two-week English course where women of the Mother Group in Shafur Bensi participated.
We like to enable lifelong studies to adults; especially women and plan more activities in education for adults.
Nepal is one of the countries in the world with the highest illiteracy rate. 50% of the population cannot read or write. It is compulsory for the children to go to school, but very often, children in the remote areas are needed to work in the home or in the fields.
