PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN NEPAL

The Nepalese state is unable to make sufficient investment on health and education due to current political liquidity. Millions of children are unable to attend the school and there are dropouts, where they are attending.

Beside governmental schools, Nepal has lots of private schools, which provide an excellent education to children. The school language is solely English (exception: lessons in national language Nepali). In order that children can concentrate entirely on lessons and learning, most of the private schools stipulate very strict rules. Furthermore small classes and after class-trainings contribute to good education and school success.

Private schools set a high value on sport -, game - and education activities. Competitions such as quiz’s competitions, competitions in holding presentations or in writing essays, music and dance contests or sport contests are regularly organized by all private schools.

EXTRACT FROM SCHOOL RULES

Please find below an extract from school rules of the Highland Boarding School (established in1997) in Dhunche, District Rashuwa:

„…. The students must come to school on time properly dressed in the school uniform on all school days..“

„….The students have to speak only in English within the school premises…“

„… Students are not allowed to bring mobile phones, undesirable books, things, jewellery etc. to school …“

„… The guardians are not allowed to see their child or contact any teacher during class hours without permission of the director/principal…..“

If any of the students break the school rules, he or she will be charge a fine or suspended from the school according to the mode of situation.

TEACHER COUNCIL

The majority of the teachers, who teach at the private schools, studied educational science in India and they are well experienced. Some of the teacher finished even a study in Great Britain or the USA.

SCHOOL EQUIPMENT

The schools are equipped with computers, science labs and libraries. Most of the private schools have as well a hostel for those students whose parents can not manage time to look after their children and for the students from remote areas. The dormitories are separated for boys and girls and around ten students can sleep in one bedroom. The meals for all hostel students will be served in the school canteen.
